Actor/rapper Jaden Smith has continued the cool tape series with the release of “The Cool Tape Vol. 2” as an app named the Jaden Experience and on datpiff.com for free. He did so with very little promotion besides the singles “Fast,” “Trophy,” and “Blue Ocean V18.” Despite his hilariously intriguing tweets, Jaden Smith is an outstanding rapper.

He starts the mixtape off with “Fire,” an upbeat song with a catchy hook and Jaden talking about himself. “..[A]ll my failures crush your successes.” He comes off confident, and as a major contributor to the rap industry today. The next song is “Keep Ya Love” in which Jaden shows his lyrical ability while also bragging about how people higher up want him, “…secret societies, secretly they all been eyeing me.” The production on this track is a dream-like feeling. Imagine yourself in your happy place. In this track Jaden reaches new level of peace within himself and his friends stating “… and anything offensive said, yes we will deflect it and anything that’s truthful and genuine we will accept it.”

As the mixtape goes on, Jaden throws this “teenagers can run the world” feeling at us. In the track “Zoned,” Smith really hits us with lyrics stating his mental state, but also hitting us with his love lines and awesome production. With memorable tracks like the just over ten-minutes-long “Let it Breathe,” he discusses love, more than likely his love for Kylie Jenner. With a spoken word poem midway through the song, he seems to have picked up certain things from his mentor, Childish Gambino.

There are multiple hit songs on this mixtape. With the help of Willow Smith on vocals, Jaden Smith has no problem doing an amazing job delivering on this project. The production, mixed with the feel you get from this project, is what separates it from the others. I recommend this project to any Hip-Hop fan
