“The Force Awakens” is a Triumph to the Star Wars Franchise
The most anticipated film in the galaxy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, opened worldwide on Thursday Dec 17. Force Awakens premiered in Los Angeles, more than 10 years after the release of Star Wars Episode: III: Revenge of the Sith (2005).
Force Awakens has grossed over $100 million from Friday and there’s a new estimate that the film will destroy the weekend box office record by gaining $225 million. This will dethrone the current weekend.
Force Awakens is the first film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and set 30 years after the event of the Return of the Jedi (1983). record by Jurassic World at $208.8 million from June 2015.
In the film the last Jedi, Luke Skywalker goes missing which leads his sister, Leia Organa and the successor to the Galactic Empire, the First Order to scout throughout the galaxy for him.
Critics have praised the new film for bringing Star Wars into the 21st century and fans back.
“It’s everything the kid in us goes to the movies for—marvelous adventure that leaves us surprised, scared, and euphoric.” according to Rotten Tomatoes.
“Without giving too much away I will say The Force Awakens actually feels like Star Wars again.” says Bryan Bishop, the Verge
After the disappointment from The Phantom Menace, Force Awakens brilliant storyline will make old and new fans return to the galaxy from far far away.
