A year well spent: ‘Gilmore Girls: a Year in the Life’ (Review)
“If you’re out on your own, feeling lonely and so cold…” take some time and watch Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
The classic TV show that ran from 2000-2007 is back and better than ever. On November 25, 2016, Netflix released four 90 minute segments each taking place in a different season. Caution: the following text contains spoilers.
Any Gilmore Girls fan will remember Lorelai’s undeniable connection with the snow and that is probably why the new series started at this time of the year. The series catches up with both Lorelai, who is still living (happily?) in Stars Hallow, and Rory, who is living as a (struggling?) journalist and traveling the world.
Fans have anxiously been waiting for an update on life in Stars Hallow and these new episodes did just that. The addition to the series follows the mother and daughter through the death of Richard Gilmore, the forgetfulness that is Paul, and many more adventures such as Sookie leaving the Dragonfly Inn.
Nothing was more disappointing then when the new seasons did not immediately feature Sookie injuring herself. Even more frustrating was seeing Luke and Lorelai struggling in their relationship.
The biggest shock was Rory’s love life. Between Jess, Dean, and Logan, fans were not ready for some guy named Paul. Especially if this Paul is going to be the father of a new Baby Gilmore.
More than anything it was very exciting to see the strength of Lorelai and Rory’s relationship. The dynamic duo have stayed strong over the years and continue to be the stars of Stars Hallow.
