CASD Web Portal helps CHS students and teachers access files from home
CHS has undergone many changes this year. One change that has been introduced this year is the CASD Web Portal, also known as Files from Home. The CASD Web Portal, according to technology resource teacher Kelli Murphy-Godfrey is “a secure access outside district to individually created documents located on the CASD network.”
In other words, it gives network users the ability to use any computer with internet connection and access files that have been saved to the CASD network.
It also allows users to edit files that have been saved to the drive by using CASD Web Portal’s version of Microsoft Office applications. This means students can start their work at home and finish at school and vice versa if needed.
The CASD Web Portal is helpful to students and teachers because it makes transporting documents and files between home and school much simpler.
To use the web portal, all a student or teacher has to do go to webapp.carlisleschools.org, and then login to the CASD web portal login screen using their school provided login.
The bad news is that not many people know about the CASD Web Portal or how to use it. When asked about it, Junior Alex Mollack said, “I don’t even know what it is.”
Murphy-Godfrey said, “The CASD Web Portal is such an easy solution to so many headaches.”

I think this implementation of a web portal is not only very ingenious, but also very convenient when needing to access documents worked on at school without the hassle of USB drives or emails. Interestingly enough, the very new article solved a homework predicament I am in tonight. I needed to access a document that was on the school computers for tomorrow, but because I forgot to retrieve it before i left school, i thought i was doomed. WIth the new found knowledge of a web portal, I am happy and relieved to know that I will be able to complete my homework tonight!

I have heard about web portal a few times, but never really thought it was true, or no one never really talked about it very much. now that I see here on how it works and what it does, it sounds so simple for those who cannot really do anything, like no USB drive or something. this is a very unique way.

I don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for this. Getting school work and projects done at home will be so much easier now that I can access my documents from school at home. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to redo sections of a project because I’ve forgotten my flash drive or forgotten to put a document on it. The web portal will definitely save me a lot of future headaches.

I think that this is a really good solution to a lot of problems. Not being able to easily access things at school and at home is always a problem this is a great solution. I’m glad that Carlisle finally transitioned to a system like this. The district has not done a great job of promoting the site.

I agree Emma, while I find the wed portal a great idea and I will for sure fuse it to my advantage, I had no idea the website even existed. The district needs to do a lot better job advertising and spreading the word if they hope to keep funding for such a program.
