Every student at CHS has owned a book or at least read one. The Interact Club has made it their mission to help others get the chance to read and enjoy books, as well.

From March 17-21, CHS’s Interact Club will be holding a book drive.

Interact club is an organization that is oriented around students and their services and is sponsored by the Rotary Club in Carlisle.

In the previous years, the Interact Club has held clothing and food drives, but this is the first year that they have held a book drive.

Chemistry teacher and Interact Club adviser Shani Schalles said, “To date, over 200 books have [already] been donated.”

Junior Jazmyne Markham, the Interact Club president, said the purpose of the book drive is to “provide local organizations [with books] that have clientele that could benefit from them.”

Librarian Valerie Bushey thinks the book drive is a great idea because “anytime you can recycle or repurpose something, it’s a good thing.”

The books that have been collected will be donated to CHS’s library or to some other local organization or business such as the Bosler Library.

Schalles said, “We are always collecting, so please feel free to donate.”

If any student has books they are willing to donate, please drop them off in Schalles’ room, M17.
