The Color Splash run, held April 11, raised almost $3000 for the Four Diamonds Fund.

In a flurry of color, CHS helped children fight their battle against cancer.

The Color Splash run/walk on Saturday, April 11 had a huge turn out. The goal that organizer Devon Collier and her group that helped her out made a goal to have 200 participants; they surpassed the goal with 280 people showing up.

The run/walk benefitted the Four Diamonds Fund to fight childhood cancer and they raised close to $3,000 which is much more then they had expected for the first year of doing the Color Splash.

“[Seniors] Kaitlyn Adams and Kara Whitmeyer dedicated the last four months in planning and implementing this event,” said Collier. “The Color Splash run/walk would not have been successful without these girls and Avery Bechtel and Justine Douglas. In addition many teachers played a key role in helping out with the success of this event we also had many volunteers who came out to help.”

Whitmeyer said,” I really enjoyed working with everyone who volunteered, and bringing everything together was a lot of fun.”

Other groups assisted as well.  A service club from Crestview Elementary School handed out water to the runners, and members of the Construction class and Sean Allewelt, and the Graphic Arts and Design class created banners, posters and signs for the run. The boy’s tennis team and a Dickinson College Service Sorority, also helped out with everything.

Outside of CHS, the run was sponsored by the following organizations: 2Generations; Hooke, Hooke, Eckman Realtors; Giant Foods; Hamilton Restaurant; Rowe’s Printing; and Road ID.

Senior Sarah Gerard said,” I enjoyed the morning run with my friends and I thought it was cool that my hair was orange for the rest of the day from the powder.”

Several groups participate in the run. The girl’s lacrosse team, some students and teachers from the Alternative Education class, Go Girls Go program, students and staff from the Carlisle Area School District and served members of our community.

This was a fun way to promote exercise, while raising money for a great cause. The event brought together the community and school which helps everyone bond while helping out with a great cause.
