Hues of help: CHS to host second annual Color Splash run/walk
It’s spring! It’s also time for the CHS Color Splash 5K run/walk.
This event will be held rain or shine on April 2, starting at 10 am (sign in time begins at 8:30 am). According to the registration form, “no refunds will be made” if it rains.
The event itself is a 5K run or walk on the Carlisle cross country field.
“Throughout the course, participants will be splashed with different colors and this year–there is the addition of glitter added to some of the colors!” said Carlisle PE teacher and event co-organizer Devon Collier. Collier, along with English teacher Michelle Disbrow, has been working on organizing this second annual walk for months.
In addition to the walk, there will be other fun activities as well.
“There will be face paint, temporary tattoos and you can purchase a refreshing cup of Rita’s Italian Ice after the run to [help you] cool down,” said Collier.
If you’re interested, you must complete a registration form and return it to Carlisle PE department. Forms have been distributed around the school; however, you can also pick up one in the building offices.
You must register by Monday, March 20 to be guaranteed a t-shirt; those interested in running or walking may continue to register after this date, even up to the event itself. There is a $25 registration fee.
All proceeds made from the run will be donated to the Four Diamonds Fund. However, this won’t be the first money raised. The Color Splash Club held a very successful candygram sale right before Valentine’s Day that raised $100.
Many people have concerns about the paint; however, please note that the paint does not stain skin/clothing. However, the organizers do have some recommendations:
- Wear light clothing
- Bring your own water
- Wear sunglasses
- Bring towels to put on your car seats when you head home
- Come prepared to have a great time!
All in all, the organizers are looking forward to the event. As Collier summed it up, “The Color Splash Walk/Run is an exciting way to get out and exercise with your friends, family, and teammates while raising money for a great cause.”
