ar, CHS hosts Mini-THON, an emulation of Penn State’s THON. The event will be held on April 29th from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The proceeds go to the Penn State Hershey Four Diamonds Fund. The group provides support and financial assistance to families affected by pediatric cancer, as well as to cancer research

The Mini-THON club recently raised $940 from its annual Stall Day. CHS students were encouraged to donate loose change to delay the beginning of first period.

Mini-THON itself is an overnight event that encompasses constant activities in which all students are invited to attend.

The Mini-THON club, responsible for organizing this fundraiser for the Four Diamonds Fund, puts a lot of preparation into it. Mini-THON club is getting ready by “planning activities, doing fundraisers, and spreading the word,” explained junior club member Judith-Anne Purdy.

Specifically, the “Stop the Bop fundraiser starts [this] week,” said junior Kara Fetter, part of the committee planning it.

An annoying song will play before school and between class periods until $4800, $100 for the 48 Cumberland County children being treated for pediatric cancer at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, is donated.

Additionally, Mini-THON club is hosting “our Kickoff Assembly on March 24,” added Fetter. The goal is to raise awareness for Four Diamonds, an organization that fights against childhood cancer locally.

There is also a volleyball tournament planned for April 5.

Senior Caitlyn Smith, a club member, believes CHS students should attend Mini-THON because “it’s a good cause. You’re making a difference by coming and changing the lives of kids who need it.”
