Stella storms through CHS (Photos)
Just a week before spring began, Carlisle High School was covered by a wintry white.
According to Pennlive.com, 18-24 inches of snow were expected to fall in Carlisle in the early hours of March 14. Although Carlisle did not get as much snow as predicted, the snowfall still totaled at about one foot.
Poor conditions on the highways caused several accidents last week, which slowed down traffic and closed ramps and lanes.
“One crash has resulted in a lane restriction in the northbound lane a half mile north of Exit 47 to Pennsylvania Route 34 and Hanover Street,” reported PennLive on March 14. “The other is causing a traffic disruption at Exit 10 to Pennsylvania Route 914 and Marion.”
Due to dangerous conditions on the highways, CHS’ Model United Nations delegation had their trip to their national conference delayed. Rather than leaving on March 14, their bus departed for New York City on March 15.
The rest of the student body also felt the effects of the storm. Carlisle cancelled classes on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week, and schools operated on a two-hour delay schedule upon students’ return Thursday.

The snow melted much faster this year than it has in years past– I know rain and warm temperatures made that happen; the resulting water-logged ground has created difficulties for a number of sports regarding practice.
