Homecoming themes do have a purpose (Editorial)

By using creativity, some CHS students were able to design dresses from used items. Dresses like these would work well for homecoming and other school dances.

Homecoming is an event that takes place in Carlisle High School every year that is available for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors to attend. It is a time for each grade level to be able to get together, dance and enjoy each other’s company.

What you may not realize is that there is a theme that is chosen every year for homecoming by the senior class council. They all decide on what they want it to be and then it is announced at a later time to the rest of the school.

The theme seems like it is a good idea, because not only does it get students excited, but it also puts excitement in teachers as well.

The theme makes the overall purpose of the dance more fun and interesting for people. Additionally, some students feel like they are a part of the decorations themselves, in terms of how real everything looks.

If there was not a theme every year, homecoming would not be as engaging as it already is, because we do have one.

The theme also adds on to more of the hype as well as homecoming spirit week. In fact, both of these things are equally important in order to make each student’s night a success as well as an unforgettable memory for not just them individually, but their friends as well.

The senior class council works really hard on coming up with a good theme, therefore we should all take the time to appreciate their dedication. Likewise, the juniors, sophomores, and freshmen are also a huge help in making sure that everyone is happy on the night of homecoming and is able to enjoy themselves.

All in all, I think that homecoming theme’s should exist, because they display a lot of creativity, in terms of how they are presented to the students. They also show a unique side of CHS, by coming up with these crazy yet interesting ideas for everyone, including students from other schools, to be able to see.
