NFL season should be full of surprises (Editorial)
The National Football League (NFL) started off with a few surprises with the opening of their 2014 season.
With the Seattle Seahawks beating the Denver Broncos, 43-8, in last year’s Super Bowl, this year looked like it was going to be a run away for the Seahawks. The regular NFL season started on September 4, with a surprising Green Bay Packers loss courtesy of the Seahawks.
This season will be an interesting season with the upsets that already happened in week 1; the Bills beat the Bears (23-20), the Dolphins beat the Patriots (33-20), the Lions beat the Giants (35-14), and the Cardinals beat the 49ers (23-14). Although NFL fans witnessed upsets, a few games had expected outcomes. For instance, the Vikings beating the Rams (34-6), the Eagles beating the Jaguars (34-17), the Steelers beating the Browns (30-27), the 49ers beating the Cowboys (28-17), and the Broncos beating the Colts (31-24).
Surprising games in week 2 included the Cardinals beat the Giants (25-14), the Bengals beat the Falcons (24-10), and the Chargers beat the Seahawks (30-21).
Week 3 surprising victories were the Lions beat the Packers (19-7), and the Cardinals beat the 49ers (23-14).
There were some surprising victories in week 4: the Buccaneers beat the Steelers (27-24), the Dolphins beat the Raiders (38-14), the 49ers beat the Eagles (26-21), the Vikings beat the Falcons (41-28), and the Cowboys beat the Saints (38-17).
With these surprising games in the early weeks of the NFL, and all the controversy surrounding the NFL, this season looks to be one of the best.
Superbowl prediction: Seattle Seahawks 24 Indianapolis Colts 17.

Football is a great sport to watch if you don’t think about it, especially if the team you like is doing well.

I haven’t been following the NFL the past couple seasons, but I had planned to this year. There definitely have been surprises, and I’m glad the Eagles are doing a lot better.

The NFC West is tougher than ever this year, Seahawks will struggle. Colts are having a bad start to the year, I doubt they’ll make it. Overall I believe that the Super Bowl is going to be Broncos vs. Cardinals. Denver will win.

This should definitely be a good year of football, after seeing the Chiefs pound the Patriots last night and the Redskins playing terribly after looking good with Cousins, it should be full of surprises. David, what teams do you see winning their divisions this year, and who else do you like other than the Seahawks and Colts?

Jake, I don’t like the Seahawks or the Colts, I just looked at the first couple of games and picked based on stats and how well I knew the teams. I just think Seattle will repeat because they are just that good of a team. I love the Pittsburgh Steelers and I would have loved to put them in as a team in the SuperBowl but I don’t think its going to happen this year. In the AFC East I think the Patriots will win that division, in the AFC North I think the Bengals will win, in the AFC South I think the Colts will win, in the AFC West I think the Broncos. Wild Card team for the AFC will be the Ravens. In the NFC East I think with the Eagles power they will win with flying colors, in the NFC North I think the Packers will win, in the NFC South I think the Saints will win, and in the NFC West I think the Seahawks will win. Wild Card team for NFC will be the 49ers.
