Boys basketball has great season but falls short in playoffs
Despite a successful 2014-2015 boy’s basketball season, the team ultimately fell in the Round of 16 to Northeastern, 56-49.
Senior starter Jake Milligan said about the loss, “They were a lot taller than us, so we had to pack the paint and force them to shoot because once they got inside they were able to score a lot. So we did that and they just made a lot of shots.”
The boy’s basketball team started off the season on a great roll, going 7-3, with key wins against heated rival Cumberland Valley (46-43) and Central Dauphin (50-43).
Gene Evans Gymnasium was sold out for Carlisle vs. Cumberland Valley Round 2. The boys really clicked during the whole game and won (57-49). Beating Cumberland Valley twice in the season put Carlisle in a really good position. The Senior Section was packed. It was a red-out fake-out and the student section was behind the team the whole game.
Senior student section regular Josh Winton said his favorite moment of the season was “when we got the whole gym to do the wave.”
When asked about being in the Student Section this year, senior George Gilbert said, “I liked it a lot; it was very fun.”
The Student Section, the Carlisle Crazies, also won the Student Section Showdown sponsored by Pennlive. The Student Section received a banner for their win.
About winning the Student Section Showdown, Gilbert said, “I felt like we really deserved to win.”
The Boy’s Basketball team finished the season with a record of 16-7 and earned the number 10 seed in the Round of 16.
When asked about giving advice to the underclassmen playing next year, Milligan said, “Work on your game in the offseason and never be satisfied. Play as a team, stay humble, and enjoy the time you have on the court and with each other. It goes fast.”
The Boy’s Basketball team says goodbye to five seniors this year: Deonte Ramsey, Chris Sneed, Michael Wuestner, Jake Milligan, and Isaiah Banks. The seniors would like to thank their coaches (as seen in the slideshow above).
Returning players looking to make a deep run next year are: Deshawn Millington, Jordan Purcell, Zion Patterson, Justin Moore, Chuckie Nist, and Tyler Greene.
