Spring sports continue to thrive in 2015 season
As the end of the school year approaches and classes begin to prepare for finals, the spring sports teams thrive.
CHS offers many programs during the spring season. Track and field, girls and boys lacrosse, softball, baseball, and boys tennis are among the sports offered.
One of the most talked about sports in the school right now is the track and field team. Seniors Isa Paschall, Deshawn Millington, Zach Brehm, and Junior Matt Wisner represented Carlisle at the New Balance Indoor National Championships. All four guys continue to improve and represent CHS well.
Sophomore Julia Ledgett said, “This is the year to do something because we have a solid group in each section of the track and field team, so if there is any time to win districts, this is the year.”
Both boys and girls track and field teams stand undefeated so far this season with records of 5 wins to 0 losses.
The girls lacrosse team has also had a very successful season. The team has definitely improved since last season. They have only lost two games with a league record of 6-2 and an overall record of 11-2. In the past two years the CHS community has started to take the girls lacrosse team a little more seriously, and other schools have seen that Carlisle is a real competitor.
Sophomore Ellie Tate said, “We have already won more games this year then last year alone. We weren’t taken seriously last year and now teams are aware that we are strong competition.”
Many seniors on the team have committed to schools for lacrosse. Rene Morrow is headed to Millersville. Megan Quattrone is headed to McDaniel. Morrow and Senior Jamie Frohm have also individually scored at least 100 goals this season.
The boys lacrosse team has also had a fairly successful season. They currently have a league record of 7-2 and an overall record of 8-4. Senior Drew Amsley, and sophomores Ryan Godfrey and George Faller are all standout players on the team who all lead the team with assists, goals and overall points.
The softball team has had a rough season this year; however, compared to last season, it has been successful. Last year the team didn’t win any games and this year they’ve won at least one. The team has a league record of 1-9 and an overall record of 2-13.
Juniors Liz Glenn, Cayla Abbey, Sophomores Mackenzie Weary and Allison Glenn lead the team in bats and runs scored.
The baseball team has also had a fairly rough season. The team has a league record of 2-7 and an overall record of 2-13. Their division this year is very tough and competitive, and the CHS boys always work their hardest.
Senior Billy Burger, Sophomore Eric Harris, Junior J.J. Robinson, and Senior Colby Saussaman lead the varsity team every game.
The boys tennis team has had a fairly average season with a league record of 2-4 and an overall record of 5-7. The team suffers very often from the recent rainy weather and is continuously having matches postponed or cancelled.
The rain can’t stop Sophomores Josh Denlinger, Alex Henry, Nick Martin and Bart Winn from stepping up and leading the team to victory.
Winn said, “We played well, fought hard, and came out better than we started.”
We wish all of the spring sports teams the best of luck as they head into the last matches of their regular season and hope for the best in any post season competition.

Sports teams year to year are an interesting and fun dynamic to watch. Last year, there was an amazing boys lacrosse team that did so well and this year didn’t go so well, but that’s just how it goes. This year was a building year for some teams, but for others, like track, they had a solid powerhouse to train and really go for the gold with. That is how they trained, and they brought home the gold to prove that they were a powerhouse. It is so great to hear that our athletes are doing well, but will continue to play in college as well.

Many of the sports seasons this year did alright but seem to have suffered in comparison to last year. This just means that the years to come should yield better results! This is exciting to see and the sports are such a good part of CHS! Everyone should participate or go cheer at least once when they are in high school

It’s really awesome to hear about how well our sports teams have been doing. There has definitely been a lot of growth in the four years that we have been here, and I can’t wait to see how everyone thrives in years to come!

I think it’s really cool to see how sports teams develop. Some day I think it’ll be interesting to come back and watch the team I once played on. I think it also shows how much progress Carlisle makes each year with our hardworking students and faculty. It’s really inspiring to see how far our school advances throughout the years.
