CHS winter sports teams heating up
More stories from Rowan Young
As the weather gets colder, the winter sports teams heat up at CHS.
The wrestling team has started a great season with leadership from seniors Grant Shughart and Muhamed Alic. Both Shughart and Alic have placed at the first two opening tournaments for the CHS wrestling team.
“Our strength is the quality of wrestler we have in the room,” said coach Joe Wilson. The team looks to be very successful this season and grow as a team.
The girls swim team has had a very successful start to their season by winning their first 3 meets of the season as well as the Dover Invitational. The girls team is led by freshman Meg Tate, sophomore Grace Lippert, juniors Elizabeth Young, and for diving, junior Laura McIlhenny.
“While we have a young team, our sprint group is fast, which is really helping our relays,” said boys and girls swim coach Ann Berg when asked about the team’s strengths.
The boys swim team is working hard in the beginning of this season. The team is led by senior Daniel Madio, sophomore CJ Berg, freshman Isaiah Bell, and junior Max Fiorentino.
“We are rebuilding our sprint and mid distance group with some talented freshmen showing some real promise,” said Berg.
The girl’s basketball team has worked hard to build a successful basketball program with a new coach, Gabrielle Guynan, so far this season. The team is led by juniors Cara Eschenmann, Sydney Purcell, and senior Lauren Peele. The current record for the girl’s team is 1-4.
The boy’s basketball team has been very successful in beginning their winter season. The team is led by juniors Ben Milligan, Ethan Houston, and senior Jordan Purcell. The team currently has a 6-1 record.
We wish all of the CHS winter sports teams the best of luck in their 2015-2016 season!

It’s so great to know how well the sports teams here at Carlisle are doing! It should be even more of a reason for school spirit. Great job guys and go herd!

I am very proud of the all the athletes at our high school. Pursuing a sport and school at high levels is an admirable ideal. Keep up the good work and best of luck as you head into the home stretch!
