Carlisle Girl’s Swim has been making headlines for their impressive talent this season and can now add a win over Boiling Springs on Thursday night to their repertoire. Carlisle earned a 115-55 victory over the Bubblers, adding another notch to their now 9-0 winning streak.

Undefeated, the Girl’s Swim Team has held impressive leads over each of its competitors, with the closest mark a 25 point lead over Hershey on January 5.

Coach Ann Berg contributes the team’s success to “the combination of talent and determination.  This group of girls works well together, our captains have been great motivators, and they train hard every day.”

The team has also added morning practices to the workout regime in order to prepare for the season which, as evidenced by the team’s success this season, has helped the swimmers improve.

Of course, swimming is not only about winning. It is a way for students to get involved in the student body while staying healthy and having fun. Swimming offers something new for every kind of athlete.

“High school swimming plays a different role for different people,” said Berg.  “For those athletes that are better in individual competition, it allows them to push themselves in that way, while competing as and for a team.”

Additionally, it allows multi-sport athletes to cross train, while reducing the wear and tear on the body during the winter months,” Berg added.

The competitive spirit among the swimmers sustains a constant ambition to succeed as well as a sense of unity in the team.

“I like swimming because of the exercise and, most importantly, the people. I love swimming with, supporting, and cheering for all of my friends,” Junior Kate Erfle said.

With the hard work that Coach Berg and the swimmers have put in this season, there are certain to be more victories in Carlisle’s future. The next meet is scheduled against Cedar Cliff at 7:00 on January 28 at Carlisle.
