Born ready: winter basketball season starts
CHS is about to head into another boy’s basketball season for the winter of 2016. We have returning players and new players alike, ready and prepared to take the court.
After an off-season one has to wonder what exactly have these guys been doing? It seems to most that they would take this time to relax and focus on other things for a while.
Not Ben Milligan. Milligan is a senior guard for the Herd, who spent his off-season playing in the summer league having tournaments and games with practice two to three times a week.
Players have the opportunity to play all year round. Scheduling is a tad different from each of the seasons but the overall concept remains the same.
Ethan Houston is also a senior, a power forward center on the team. He has also done his share of conditioning in preparation for the season. Open gyms, shootouts, lifting sessions, and tournaments alike.
Based on these young men’s off season it seems safe to say that it’s not a very “off” season. Both players seem very excited for the winter.
“I love the season, I love the feeling of the winter… [but] I enjoy the off season it gives me time to focus on what I need to improve on as a player,” said Milligan.
“It’s just more fun to be back during the season,” Houston agreed.
Both players are confident that Carlisle will take home a championship this year; they are pushing for one especially hard since this is their last year playing high school basketball.
Nov 18 is the start of all winter practices for CHS. The basketball team will start with their annual Carlisle Classic tournament on Dec 9.
