Bringing back the 80’s never looked so good.

Leggings, denim jackets, high-waisted pants, neon, oversized sweaters, and many more fashion statements are now trendy. But does everybody know where this wave of bold fashion originated from?

The 1980’s. Yes, that’s right, the 80’s: the decade when your parents were your age. Teenagers are now wearing the same thing their parents wore in high school.

Even though most of these things were not invented in the 80’s, they became an  extremely popular, proud statement of the times.

80’s fashion was about many things but according to liketotally80’s.com the 80’s was all about, “color, size and experimentation.”

So, why now? Why this sudden surge of fashion coming back to life?

Most people swear that the hideous fashion of the 80’s would never come into play again, but here we are, fawning over the fashion that has been renewed and reused.

Most of these trends are worn by today’s infamous hipsters, “a person who follows the latest trends and fashions, especially those regarded as being outside the culture mainstream,” according to Urban Dictionary.

Alex Pinnell believes a hipster is “about a subculture; it’s not exactly being kind of pretentious. It’s more about being a counter culture.”

Even though the big hair and certain over dramatic fashion statements have not been brought back from the dead 80’s, statements such as boots, animal print, high tops, concert T’s, and several other articles have come back into play.

According to designer Rachel Zoe, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”

Eventually the wicked trends of 80’s will fade away into obscurity, which begs the question, what will be next? Will there be a fresh new fashion or another one brought back from the dark depths of the past?
