Check out Helena’s Chocolate Café and all of our Places You’ll “LUV”
Places You Will ‘LUV’
March 16, 2015
In our Winter issue of the Periscope newsmagazine, we have a collage of some of our favorite places in Carlisle. For more information on each location, check out below!
Why you should go: Helena’s brings a piece of Europe into the scene of downtown Carlisle. They serve things like French crepes, Belgian chocolate, and Italian lattes. The food is delectable and the environment in friendly and inviting; great for an afternoon snack or dessert.
Why you should go: Large selection of vintage clothing as well as modern designs. Well maintained clothing at reasonable prices with a very helpful staff.
Why you should go: The Back Door Café is great for lunch or dinner. They offer a variety of foods including Greek, pizza, and nachos. It is a welcoming, homey place to sit down with friends and enjoy tasty food.
What they offer: Movies that aren’t shown in Carlisle Regal Theatre
Why you should go: The Carlisle Theatre shows movies that aren’t as popular to be shown in Regal Cinemas. The ticket prices and snacks are cheap and the theatre is an historic piece of Carlisle.
In addition to those featured in the magazine, here are few more of our favorite places!
Why you should go: The Artist Market is a co-up supports artists in town. The co-up includes original artwork for the home, business, dorm or office, cards, and unique jewelry.
Why you should go: Redd’s is a barbecue pit that brings the tastes of the south to Carlisle’s front porch. They offer food like fried chicken or wings and barbecue. Go to Redd’s if you want something a little less formal and a lot messier (but delicious!)
What they sell: Coffee Shop with Live Music from Local Artists
Why you should go: The Courthouse Common Espresso Bar and Bistro is a great place to sit and relax while listening to local artists. The coffee is great with their large selection of goodies like a pretzel brownie.
Why you should go: Ever here your parents talking about the “good ol’ days” where they could get candy for a quarter and you wished it was still like that? Well look no further, Georgie Lou’s is old fashioned but with candy from all generations. Great place to stop if you’re looking to enjoy some truffles or even pick up a treat for that special someone.

I love all of these places!! I love crepès so Helena’s is the best for breakfast. I have not yet been to the carlsile theatre but I guess that’s a place I will have to check out!
Even though Carlisle is a small town we do have some good places to go to. I have never been to Helena’s but a lot of my friends have been there and mentioned the crepes. I will have to make time one of these days to stop and eat there. I have eaten at Redd’s a few times. I love bbq food and whenever I’m in the mood for it I go there!
Wow, I love Carlisle because of places like this. Our town really thrives on these small businesses, and they all do such a good job of making our town great and unique. It’s rare for such a small town to have so many great and unique clothing stores like Time Bomb and Clothesvine. I find something for myself each time I go in! We also have Harmony Society and Stacked, which are great vintage stores. Helena’s has to be my absolute favorite. You can often catch me in there drinking coffee and doing homework after school. Such a pleasant environment.
Carlisle really has some gems downtown, and you guys have hit on a lot of them. Helena’s is one of my favorite places to go after school; its quiet, calm atmosphere is perfect for reading and doing homework. The macaroons there are also delicious! Everyone should also check out Café Bruges on N Pitt Street. It has great burgers and fries, and it is probably my favorite restaurant in Carlisle.
