What would you like to see in Carlisle?
Carlisle: the place we all call home.
But what could make our home a little more exciting and fun? What places could we bring in so we had somewhere to hang out, dine, and create memories in?
“Many of us crave that Mexican fiesta to our mouth when we eat Chipotle. But the sad thing is there isn’t one in Carlisle. You have to drive down the Harrisburg Pike, into Mechanicsburg just for that,” said senior Derek Wise.
Asking students around the school what they wish Carlisle had varied vastly, many of which ranged from places to objects, almost seeming impossible. But some of the ideas could happen and actually bring in a lot of money to our town.
“A professional baseball stadium, so we see a game or two every now and then,” said sophomore Micaha Knisley
That could be interesting, but could also open Carlisle up to more people.
Seniors Belinda Murillo and Cassie Hagamen said, “A big mall with stores like Forever 21, Victoria’s Secret, and Charlotte Rouse so we didn’t have to drive to Capital City.”
It sure would be nice to have our own mall, filled with stores that interested everyone in the town. We could put clothing stores, card stores, video game shops, and a sporting good store in it.
Fill Carlisle up with anything you could possible dream of having to make it hip, cool, and easier for people to get what they want without the hassle of traveling many miles. Imagine yourself walking downtown, not having to drive and saving gas because Carlisle, PA has it all!
“For those whose parents work on weekends or during our vacation time it would be nice to walk from your house to an amusement park. It would give all of us something to do and wouldn’t be boring like just going to a movie,” said sophomore Megan Woodward.
After Hershey Park does seem miles and miles away when you don’t have your license or a car.
Sophomore Bry Morrow said, “I wish Carlisle had an outdoor skating rink in town. That would make winter a bit more enjoyable.”
Downtown, where most of the community travels through daily yet doesn’t pay attention to what goes on around that area, could see a huge increase in people taking notice in this, as ice skating is fun for all ages.
Carlisle does have a lot to offer, but there is always room for improvement. We could spice up this town with our creative minds if we wanted to.

I really enjoyed reading this article because I definitely agree with it. I feel like Carlisle should be spiced up a bit because there really isn’t that much to do. It would be fun to have a mall close enough with a variety of different stores that we it wouldn’t take at least half an hour to get to the closest mall.

Almost positive a Chipotle is coming to Carlisle! YAY! This is an awesome article and I agree with having a mall with trendy stores in it… hate having to drive far just to go shopping 🙂

Although I do think Carlisle has some great spots to get a good bite to eat, it lacks places to shop and just hang out. Sure there’s T.J. Maxx and cute places downtown like the Clothes Vine but I think we need more. I do agree that it is a hassle to drive all the way to Camp Hill just to go to the mall and shop at places like Forever 21 and American Eagle. Carlisle has the potential to have some great stores like that! Now that I see Chipotle will soon be in Carlisle I think that gives me hope that some other places will do the same. The Pointe Mall in Carlisle could have potential as well. A lot of it is empty and if nice clothing stores moved in I think it would benefit a lot of people. Although I love downtown Carlisle, it can just get a little boring sometimes.

I would love to have a Chipotle in Carlisle! While visiting my sister last summer in DC we had chipotle, and it was delish. It would be nice to have one closer to home. We do have some good restaurants already here, though.

Everyone bashes on how Carlisle is so boring but in my opinion Carlisle does have a lot to offer. We have hiking trials out of the wazoo and multiple places to go swimming in the summer. For winter we have some pretty big hills to go sledding and snowboarding at like the Fairgrounds. I believe you can have fun in any town. I believe life is what you make it and where you are. My dad will always tell me how he grew up in a coal mining town where everyone was poor but he enjoyed his childhood greatly because they would make up games not having to use money or go to stores. If i had to add one thing to Carlisle it would have to be adding a Skate Park because i know a lot of people skate and bike around town and they are always getting in trouble for being on private property but if they had a skate park we would have this problem.

I love this! If all these improvements happened, this would be the best place on earth! Love the story!! 🙂

I definitely agree with Carlisle needing a mall! The Pointe Mall is not big enough and half of it is empty! I think Carlisle has enough restaurants though. If we put more chain restaurants in, all the “mom-and-pop” family-owned restaurants would go out of business. I think what we do need is more higher-end department stores, like Macy’s.

I wish we had restaurants like Chipotle, Chick-fil-a, Aroogas, etc in Carlisle. It is such a pain driving all the way out on the pike. We definitely need more restaurants like that.
