Ready to serve: Coffeehouse ‘First Cup’ to return this weekend
Coffeehouse is having their annual fall performance night, The First Cup, on Saturday Sept 26 in the Fowler Courtyard from 7-9:30 p.m. There will be a three dollar entrance fee for students, five for adults.
The First Cup will be conducted in what is called “Coffeehouse style” where all the performers are unplugged, no drum kits or electric guitars, going all acoustic.
“This ‘Coffeehouse Style’ provides students a chance to play what they can’t really play in the school such as what the students listen to in their spare time,” said English and Shakespeare teacher Susan Hench.
In between the musical performances, poetry will be read to keep the audience entertained.
“Poets are encouraged to recite their poetry however they’d like,” said senior Tatum Mann, “so presentations often range from qualities of cool introspection to power that verges on slam.”
“Come to coffeehouse–it’s fun!” said biology teacher James Wilkinson.
Seconding his comment, Hench said, “It is a good chance for students to come together, [pretend] that it is still summer and listen or have a good time their friends.”
