Preparing for MiniTHON: A student perspective
Mini-THON is a dance marathon event students from Carlisle High School go to to raise money for The Four Diamonds Fund, a program that collects money to children who are suffering from cancer.
Raising money for The Four Diamonds fund isn’t the only part taken in Mini-THON. Mini-THON has its own money needed to make the whole event a success.
“[We host/plan] fundraising events to raise money for the kids,” said Lizzy Neumann, CHS junior and Mini-THON student adviser. “We’ve been canning at sporting events. We recently held the pancake breakfast which went even better than we could’ve imagined! We just recently unveiled our theme for this year and created our committee t-shirts to show off as well.”
CHS Mini-THONs raised $1,367.15 for the Four Diamonds Fund at their pancake breakfast.
The student staff preparing for Mini-THON have been working hard already to make this years event a big hit and to make sure enough money gets raised to help children in need.
Aislinn Piper, another CHS junior that is working on the preparation for Mini-THON said, “We sold things at lunches and we can at sporting games like basketball and football games.”
So the Mini-THON committee has been putting a lot of time and effort into this event to not only help children fight their cancer, but also bring students together as one, and accomplish a good deed.
Mini-THON’s theme will be “Life in Color” and will be held on April 29th, 2016.
“Each grade will have a different color t-shirt and we’re going to have a lot of colorful posters,” said senior Amanda Padilla. “I think this year is going to be really good. We all have big goals for it and we hope that more students get involved this year.”

I only went to Mini-thon one year and that was last year. it was a really fun time, but I wish it would’ve been held over night. I plan to go this year and see how different it is from last year, or if more people go, and how much money we raise again.
