AP African American Studies*

* Please note that AP African American Studies is yet to be approved by the CHS School Board. The vote to approve this course will occur during the school board meeting on March 16. 

Though this course is not currently approved, students can still select this course to indicate their interest in taking the course should it run. Students should also submit a selection for an alternate course that they can take if the course would not be approved by the school board.

There are no prerequisites as this time

‘Scope: Expected workload? 

Roper: This multidisciplinary course will take a comprehensive look at the “history, politics, culture, and economics of North American people of African descent.  Students should expect to have work that will need to be completed outside of the school day, specifically reading and analyzing literature, art, and primary sources.

‘Scope: What is the course meant to prepare students for? 

Roper: This course will prepare students for any college level history class and also a better understanding of our nations rich history.

‘Scope: What periods are this class running? 

Roper: That has yet to be determined.
