“Africa”- Toto

In 1982, the band Toto released their song “Africa.” It’s a moving and powerful song, and when listening to it, you are surrounded by an uplifting feeling.  It was written by David Paicher and Jeff Porcaro, however, the initial idea came from Paicher.  He explained that the song was about one’s love for the continent of Africa.  The song is a part of Toto’s, Toto IV album.  It reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, in 1983.  However, in 2018 the band Weezer released a cover of the song, which reached number 51 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart.
