Healthcare is a Human Right, Medicare 4 All
Scope: Pennsylvania is a major swing state; if elected how do you plan to unify the state population?
Candidate left this answer blank.
Scope: What are your plans for alleviating higher education costs?
CD: Through Equity.
A more equitable tax system. Property taxes must not be based upon a child’s zip code. Shifting money from fossil fuel subsidies to public programs, like improving the quality of our schools. STEM schools must be more accessible to all students. No privatization of the public school system, instead investing in the public school system. Shifting money equitably from corporate subsidies to public programs.
Scope: Where do you stand on Roe v. Wade and Obergefell v. Hodges and how do you plan to act on your position if elected?
CD: I support both rulings. I support reproductive Justice, and in that abortion is healthcare. These decisions are only between the pregnant person and their healthcare provider.
As governor of Pennsylvania, I will veto any attempts to remove the rights of LGBTQ+ and access to womens healthcare (abortion).
I will also address the fact that the Democratic Party had every chance to codify these rulings. Knowing this, I will advocate for this action and do anything in my power to make sure this essential action happens.
Scope: Gun violence in schools is a worry for many school students across the state. If elected, how do you plan to combat this in office?
CD: We need to legislate gun control measures in PA. If elected Governor of the Commonwealth of PA, I will advocate for this by bringing those most knowledgeable into the process, and elevate their voices. I will work across all party lines to make that happen, and if any bill comes across my desk that impedes the ability for us to protect these children, I will veto it. We need common sense legislation, at this point, because our rights to health and safety are being challenged by a regressive and fear ridden party (GOP) alongside a party who compromises our health and safety because they fear retaliation politically (Democrats) We ned Bold action, that is what these communities are calling for, and I will not compromise the health and safety of the public as a public servant, because our children’s lives depend on it. Schools are supposed to be a safe place for children, which is conducive to learning. We must protect the vulnerable. I will do whatever it takes to make sure that happens in an equitable manner.
Scope: Why should high school students vote for you?
CD: Because I care about their future and it is my duty to make sure that we leave them with an ability to make change. I cannot sit by and watch a public service compromise their health and safety, and their future. Our next generation deserves a chance and I am here to set the platform for that. I want to encourage these high school students to get involved locally and start learning about the dysfunction in our political system. We have to clean up the mess we created instead of leaving them with it to clean up. This is a lesson of accountability and responsibility.
