Shamaine Daniels- Democrat
Scope: What are your top three priorities if elected?
SD: 1. Investing in infrastructure
- Advancing the rights of women and families and
- Fixing our broken immigration system
Scope: Pennsylvania is a major swing state; if elected how do you plan to unify the state population?
SD: Our division seems from leaders fomenting division in a effort to distract from the fact they are not working to help solve our problems. I think re-focusing on problem-solving will help unite Pennsylvanians.
Scope: What are your plans for alleviating higher education costs?
SD: Such a large portion to addressing this issue is related to state actions. At the Federal level we can mostly address issues of equity, but the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania needs to go back to investing in higher Ed at the rate it used to in the late 80’s, early 90’s.
Scope: Where do you stand on Roe v. Wade and Obergefell v. Hodges and how do you plan to act on your position if elected?
SD: I support a woman’s right to make decisions about her reproductive health and the rights of individuals to marry who they choose. Codifying these rights will be essential until the composition of SCOTUS changes.
Scope: Gun violence in schools is a worry for many school students across the state. If elected, how do you plan to combat this in office? By support gun control legislation.
The candidate left this question blank.
Scope: Why should high school students vote for you?
SD: I worry a lot about the future of our Democracy. I arrived in the U.S. in 1991, 10 years before September 11 when we saw massive reductions to our Due Process rights. Fast forward another decade or so and we saw the removal of a substantive civil right which had never been done before. High School students should vote for me because protecting our democracy is the only way to ensure we can address the challenge we face in a fair and equitable manner.
